Different Colors for Labels on Axis in Graph/Chart for Excel

I needed to come up with a way to have the labels different colors to add additional categorization my charts. I had seen a co-worker do this before, but he make several copies of the same graph with different colors and then just used paint to edit them. Turns out there is a much simpler answer here:
Link

Short Ver.
  • Create a separate column for each colored label, and have the output be Zero or #N/A
  • Change the plot of these to "Line Chart"
  • Click on the label and select "Category Name" uncheck the rest
  • Under the labels set the alignment label position to "below"
  • Click on the actual lines and hide them
  • Change the color of the labels
Okay, lets say you copied the chart and the labels disappeared.
  •  Add the legend back if you removed it
  • Click on the legend marker for labels "it should still be there even if there is nothing" change the color so it appear son the graph
  • Right click on the line, and click "Add Data Labels"
  • Now you can edit it just like above, just make sure to make the line no color again afterwards

Teamviewer still prompts for confirmation in saved computer contacts when unattended access is setup

The issue. I click connect, and it prompts the other computer for a confirmation....no idea why that started. This was the only computer that did it. You just, unfortunately have to uninstall and reinstall.

Clustered and Stacked Column and Bar Charts Excel 2016

This was an incredibly annoying issue I had since I could not figure out how to have multiple stacked columns for different categories on a chart. What worked for me was a combination of these two guides:

  1. http://www.exceldashboardtemplates.com/how-to-easily-create-a-stacked-clustered-column-chart-in-excel/ This has good ideas on how to configure the table
  2. http://excelhelphq.com/tutorial-clustered-stacked-column-bar-charts-free/ This actually shows you how to layout the data. Basically, you end up having multiple rows for the same series to have individual columns

Backups for Windchill Quality Solutions 10.2+

I had a failed hard drive recently and with it a corrupted back up. It turns out that Relex / WQS files are not easily saved like a simple .file or .proj it turns out you need to make a backup of your SQL database that was created for Relex. You need to make sure when you installed SQL Server EXPRESS you also installed the management studio tools. If you didn't download the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Sign in with the sa account, or if you forget you might be able to with windows credentials. Expand the Databases heading. Right-click on the database to be migrated and choose Tasks > Back Up. On the Back Up Database window make sure the Backup Type is set to Full. Lastly make sure to actually set a file name / location in by clicking [Add...] intuitively they don't have an automatic name for the .bak setup, so without it you can't actually create the backup. I'd recommend committing this .bak file somewhere safe because without it a migration to a new system is a horrible process.

Once again I'd still like to make note that PTC has excellent support.

Webex Not Working on Windows 10

I was trying to attend a Webex on my tablet which uses Windows 10 and I got "Invalid input or system error. Please try again or contact your site administrator."

This is extremely concerning for people who have a lot of meetings. Thankfully I found this thread the solution is to pick a browser you are not using and Right Click > Properties > Compatibility > Compatibility Mode > Run this program in compatibility mode and it totally works.

PTC Windchill Solutions won't start with Error "Could not connect to net.tcp://:/Relex.Security/IAccessManager"

Problem: Message "Could not connect to net.tcp://<host-name>:<port>/Relex.Security/IAccessManager" appears when launching PTC

Solution: The PTC Forums describe the issue at Document CS192106, however, the issue for me turned out to be that not all the PTC Windchill Services were running.

To check: Click the windows button and type "services.msc" in the services window go down to the main PTC serices: Alert Services, Long Running Task Service, Object Broker Services, Search Indexer Service, and make sure they are all started

Renew PTC Windchill Product License File

Quick Mental Note:

I have Windchill Quality Solutions 10.2

When you get a new license, what can happen is the License Management Representative will typically send you a license file. Depending on your email provider these are sometimes parsed out as .eml files.

Email the representative that contacted you and ask for *.txt version files

Navigate to this Directory once you have the txt files:

C:\Program Files (x86)\PTC\PTC Windchill Quality Solutions 10.2\PTC License Server Setup

After a quick UAC prompt it should look like this. Click on  PTC License Server

Click on the folder to browse and then go to the .txt file

Click install. and you should be good to go.
